I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with adults, couples, children, teens, and families. I have a BA in Communication Studies, a California Teaching Credential, an MA in Health Science, and a second MA in Psychology – Marriage Family Therapy.
I moved to the Central Coast from Los Angeles in 2013 and have enjoyed working for the San Luis Obispo Superior Court, Child Welfare Services, Foster Family Agencies, The Department of Rehabilitation, and in private practice. I specialize in issues related to divorce, Co-parenting Therapy, and Supervised Therapeutic Visitation. I have special training in child and adolescent therapy and enjoy facilitating play and art therapy.
My work with adults generally includes forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Existential Therapy. I believe our thoughts and feelings influence our behavior so identifying ways to reduce our reactivity to situations and people can greatly increase life satisfaction. I also believe in Solution Based Therapy as a modality to help clients in need of identifying solutions to time sensitive issues (while offering helpful resources). I believe mental health is also affected by a sense of spirituality and the way in which we approach “Whole Health.” I believe learning skills to reduce stress, calm our “monkey mind,” and find self-love and self-care are important to overall mental health.
Other specific populations I have experience working with are disabled adults and military veterans. I have worked with disabled adults as a Senior Counselor at the California Department of Rehabilitation helping them access resources and managing the social and psychological effects of their disabilities. As a military veteran, I have a passion for working with veterans in several different capacities, mostly in conjunction with their families.
